Team Ministry
The phrase Team Ministry refers to a group of clergy and others working together to serve one or more churches within a parish. As the Church of England has evolved to face changing social and financial circumstances, team ministry has emerged as a popular and effective response to a wide range of challenges. You can read more about what that means in Kings Norton on this page.
Rectors and Vicars
Historically, parish priests in the Church of England were divided into rectors, vicars, and perpetual curates. Roughly speaking, the distinction was that the rector directly received both the greater and lesser tithes of his parish, and a vicar received only the lesser tithes; a perpetual curate with a small "cure" received neither greater nor lesser tithes, and earned only a small salary. Parishes that had a rector as priest often had glebe lands attached to the parish. Today, the title is used to designate the priest in charge of a team ministry.
