A different Christmas. Snow really had fallen, snow on snow. The earth was hard as iron. Bits of the canal did have water like a stone. And bugs were rife.

We managed, thanks to grace and to determined acts of clearing and caring, and had the delight in mid-January of a sunny Sunday when, ice and bug free at last, most of us could gather in church.

Many were isolated, hurt and at risk, but good neighbours, extra layers, careful shopping and shovels got most of us through. We could deal with the weather, but climate is different. Weather comes and goes. Climate changes much more slowly...
