On 6th September at 9.30am, Bishop David is coming to share in the opening of our church school as Hawkesley Church Primary Academy. In July, with so many friends, old and new, we celebrated 37 years of school life in the middle of estate life and change. We remembered hard times and wonderful ones. And we reflected on the Cross at the heart of our school badge and our whole life.

The Cross reaches down to the very depths of human experience. It bears us up to wonder, purpose and hope far above all we can imagine. It reaches out to embrace all in relationships of accepting and affirming love. It is wholly God’s gift in Jesus, made alive for us through the Holy Spirit. Over the years, thanks to so many children, parents and staff, Hawkesley School, as I pray our whole church life here, has lived in the Cross, faithful in darkness and light at the heart of its community.
