Autumn Leaf Sweeping at St Nicolas'

20th November 2010

The annual leaf sweep got off to a great start on Saturday 30th October and continued on two Saturdays in November. No doubt encouraged by the often glorious weather, about 20 people of all ages turned out on each occasion with rakes, brooms, sacks and barrows to collect the first leaves of the autumn.

Three leaf-sweeping mornings have become traditional at St Nicolas'. As the season progresses and the trees get barer, we need all the help we can get to keep the churchyard in good order.

The organisers would like to express their thanks to all involved for their energy and enthusiasm. They are particularly grateful to the young people of our uniformed organisations and their leaders for turning out in such good numbers.

Can You Help?

The care of our extensive grounds does not stop in mid-November. Keeping the graves, the grass and the trees in good order is a year-round task which relies mainly on the generosity of volunteers.

If you would like to help with the ongoing maintenance of St Nicolas' churchyard, please have a look at our Churchyard Carers' page.
