Confirmation 15th May 2011
May 2011
"As the father has sent me so I send you." Jesus' words from John 21 tell us why God bothers, and why we keep Holy Week and Easter so fully. We’re not just passive receivers of God’s grace, though at times that is just what we need to be.
Jesus' first disciples were prepared and equipped by his grace to go out and be for all what he was for them. We’re called to be sent out in the same way. Holy Week and Easter are never the culmination of Lent. They are always the beginning of our growth in faith in God’s promise, hope and service for others.
On Sunday 15th May 2011, twelve of us claimed God’s Easter promise and hope for themselves in Baptism and Confirmation. Andrew, Bishop of Aston, made his first visit to Kings Norton. It was a day of joy and hope for all those being confirmed and of renewed beginning for us all.
You will find photos of the service here.
