Kings Norton Festival
10th - 11th July 2010
The sun and the crowds came out on Saturday 10th July to celebrate the opening of the 6th Kings Norton Festival. Throughout the morning, the stalls and displays in and around our historic buildings and the Farmers' Market on The Green drew visitors in large numbers. So much was happening at once involving so many local people that the events of Saturday morning are probably best described in pictures rather than words.

The many and varied activities of the morning were followed on the Saturday evening by a performance of Mahler's 4th Symphony, by the Apollo Sinfonia and, on the Sunday morning, by a well-attended Festival Service. Both events took place in St Nicolas' Church.
Historical Background
Open Day began in 1977 as a celebration of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee to raise funds for the Saracen’s Head Restoration Fund. It continued in support of the great work of the 1970s and 1980s which brought life, hope and use to our vulnerable buildings. In 2005, as we worked together on complete Restoration after winning the BBC2 series, Open Day became Kings Norton Festival, and it continues to grow.
