Lent 2008 in Kings Norton Parish
Our theme: Prayer
Lent began on Ash Wednesday - 6th February.
It is a time of reflection, preparation - and of trusting God to sort us out, ready for Holy Week and Easter (March 16th-23rd ) (see also Lent page on BBC website by clicking here)
For Lent 2008, our Bishop has asked that the whole diocese focus on prayer - and so it is our focus too.
God doesn't look for brilliant prayers from us. We are asked only to pray as we are. As we do, God promises that we shall grow in praise, in the opening of our hearts to the needs of the world, the church and our neighbours - and that we shall grow in generous faithful love. Please join us - as you are.
The diocese has prepared prayer booklets for use every day in Lent, so that we know we are praying together. These are for all who want to share in this. (Do ask if you don’t have one by 6 th February)
.... and every Wednesday, St Nicolas Church will be open from 7.30am - 9pm for quiet, prayer and worship
Will you, as the Bishop has asked and as you are able, promise to come into St Nicolas, even for a few minutes each Wednesday in Lent to offer your prayers as part of the whole?
Cafe T will focus on prayer each Tuesday (8pm at Gill and David's home).
Candlelit Church will do the same each Wednesday in St Nicolas Church between 6.30pm and 9pm
Other lent Groups: You may want to join others in a group at another time and place. Do tell the clergy, church wardens or Parish Office if you would like to form or be part of a Lent group.
